The New Professionals Group, known as “New Pros,” is designed for professionals in the public relations industry with less than five years experience. We also welcome individuals from related fields and anyone trying to break into the public relations field.
PRSA New Pros group helps members learn how to excel in their public relations careers by offering opportunities to connect with professional colleagues and industry peers through networking events, educational programs and social activities.
As a group within the San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), “New Pros” also promotes mentoring and interaction with members of PRSA, who are often the leading professionals in the local marketing and communications industry.
PRSA “New Pros” meet once a month, alternating between educational and social events. Past educational events have included: a behind-the-scenes tour of newsrooms, tips on networking and job searches, a workshop on media relations and a panel discussion on the differences between working in-house or for an agency.
In the San Diego public relations industry, who you know is often very important. New Pros events are instrumental in meeting professional colleagues who you will encounter throughout the rest of your career.
