Influencer marketing is hot, with brand influencer budgets increasing and new studies validating its effectiveness. An estimated 84 percent of marketers are now using influencers. Why are so may brands using influencers to share their messages? Because they are finding a good ROI (11x higher according to one study) and high impact. Influencers bring authenticity and create great content that their fans are seeking.
Given that influencer marketing sits at the crossroads of social media, public relations and paid advertising, public relations professionals often find themselves in charge of navigating this new tactic. From the celebrity influencer to the micro-influencer, paid to earned, and changing FTC rules, there is a lot to know before jumping into a program.
This panel will leverage influencer marketing experts, including a successful influencer, to give an overview of what to know before starting an influencer program, how to set yourself up for success and how an influencer approach should differ from traditional media outreach. Attendees will also get tips on how to find the right influencers for your organization, the value of content creation and what type of engagement rates to seek in potential partners.

She’s a passionate & innovative leader who specializes in results-driven social media strategy, team synergy, and Facebook Ads. Mariana has developed influencer marketing strategies with major brands including KAABOO Del Mar, Marriott Hotels, & Jersey Mike’s. But on her technology-free days, you can find her on a dance floor.
Josh Hager – Josh is a baker, blogger, and small business owner. He is a community manager for Casual Fridays, a social media and content marketing agency headquartered in San Diego. With a rapidly growing social media presence, Josh has been hired as an influencer and content creator for brands such as Disney, Nestlé, CNBC Prime, and more. His experience in an agency and as a paid social media influencer provides him with a unique, behind-the-scenes, and practical perspective on the state of influencer marketing.
