The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has announced the election of 11 new members into the organization’s prestigious College of Fellows, an honorary organization within PRSA comprised of more than 350 senior practitioners and educators, each of whom has left a significant footprint on the public relations profession.
The 2017 College of Fellows inductees include Kaye D. Sweetser, Ph.D., APR+M, Fellow PRSA, a San Diego/Imperial County chapter member. Dr. Sweetser is a professor at San Diego State University and a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve (with the rank of commander).
Dr. Sweetser has played a critical role with the local chapter for several years, helping to grow its APR program, specifically the APR+M area, and foster growth and development in the many students and professionals she has mentored. She actively mentors reserve and active duty public affairs officers toward APR and APR+M; she’s served as the primary mentor for about one third of professionals worldwide holding the APR+M credential.
She has also served as the mentor of the PRSSA chapter at San Diego State University (SDSU). Under her guidance, membership has increased by an average of 15 percent each semester.
Inductees will be welcomed officially on Oct. 7, at a special ceremony and dinner in Boston, as part of the international PRSA conference.
