Bill Trumpfheller – president of Nuffer, Smith, Tucker – died of cardiac arrest on Dec. 29 at the age of 53.
Bill began his public relations career at NST as an intern in 1986 while still enrolled at San Diego State University, a school he cherished and championed throughout his life. During his more than 30 years at NST, Bill helped grow the agency into the successful firm it is today. He leaves behind a leadership team dedicated to carrying his legacy forward with uninterrupted service and support to NST clients and staff. Vice President Teresa Siles, who has been with the firm for 15 years, has been named managing director.
Public relations professional by day, dad by night, ski patroller on the weekends, Bill lived every moment to the fullest and drew others into his zest for life, laughter and adventure. Those of you who knew Bill can attest to his commitment to the San Diego community and to advancing the public relations industry. An active Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter member, Bill had been honored with several chapter awards, including Professional of the Year (2001), the Eva Irving Award for Community Service (1998) and the Otto Bos Lifetime Achievement Award (2006).
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. at San Diego State University’s Montezuma Hall. An RSVP is appreciated. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Campanile Foundation, Bill Trumpfheller Scholarship Fund. Details on how to make a contribution are available here. Parking instructions for the service and other details will be shared on the Nuffer, Smith, Tucker Facebook page and website.
