Before joining HRC\, Vincent was the Project Director for the Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership at San Diego State University and spent over ten years as a classroom teacher and school counselor. He also served as President for the California Association of School Counselors\, was on the LGBTQ Issues Advisory Committee for the California Teachers Association\, and was a National Cadre Trainer for the National Education Association. \nJerry McCormick \nHe/Him | Senior Public Information Officer\, City of San Diego \nJerry McCormick is a Senior Public Information Officer with the City of San Diego. He is the founder of the San Diego Association of Black Journalists (now celebrating its 21st year) and a current board member of the Society of Professional Journalists. McCormick has worked locally at The San Diego Union-Tribune\, NBC 7 San Diego (where he won an Emmy for his work on the Boston Bombing tragedy) and Fox 5 San Diego. He also teaches broadcast at San Diego State University and print journalism at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. In addition\, he is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists. \nAri Lopez \nThey/Them | Operations & Special Projects Coordinator at Mixte Communications \nBefore joining Mixte\, Ari (they/them) volunteered for a handful of CBOs and NPOs in the San Diego region. They have worked for two different San Diego government agencies: SANDAG and the County of San Dego’s Environmental Health Department. They also briefly worked for a philanthropy-servicing organization where they had the opportunity to support local\, small and minority-owned businesses that have been impacted by the global pandemic\, helping local business owners secure grants provided by the CARES Act. \nBorn and raised on Kumeyaay land (San Diego region)\, Ari is a Latinx\, first-generation college graduate and a queer person of color who has naturally gravitated towards social justice issues and campaigns. Ari holds a BA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and Urban Studies & Planning from UC San Diego.
