In 1959, six public relations practitioners committed to connecting like-minded individuals founded the Public Relations Society of America, San Diego Chapter.
We later expanded to include Imperial Counties, thereby creating the Chapter you know today, PRSA SD/IC.
PRSA SD/IC is one of more than 100 chapters within the Public Relations Society of America, the world’s largest and foremost organization of public relations professionals. We are proud to have grown our membership to include more than 300 professionals in our region. We provide value to our members and the community by:
- Offering top quality educational programming and networking opportunities that allow them to make new connections and advance their careers
- Hosting an industry-specific job board allowing professionals to easily search for new opportunities in our region
- Hosting an annual awards program, the Edward L. Bernays Awards, allowing agencies, in-house shops and individual practitioners to seek credible third-party recognition of their hard work
- Providing an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) Program, which supports the elevation of the PR professional’s stature
- Providing mentorship to new professionals looking to expand their network and glean valuable information on the local PR industry
- Assisting local nonprofits by providing PR guidance, free of charge, through our Quality Time with PR Minds annual event(s)

PRSA’s Western District
PRSA SD/IC is a member of the national organization’s Western District, which includes 11 chapters in five western states: Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Southern California and Southern Nevada. The District serves to support professional development and help transform members into leaders through stipends for chapter programs, an annual regional conference and the Quick Start leadership program.
